Why It Matters

Smile Science vs. Other Implant Centers

Smile Science Dental Spa Other Implant Centers
Privately owned & doctor-ledCorporate owned & numbers driven
Meet the doctor before surgery and on surgery dayDoctor turnover is common
Same team from consultation to final teethMay not see the same doctor twice
Fully-customized treatment planningTreatment plans standardized for volume
Multiple options for permanent teethLimited options for teeth at base pricing
Teeth designed specifically for your face and bitePre-designed smiles are often used
Premium materials built for long-term durabilityAcrylic teeth common at entry level
4–6 dental implants per arch based on anatomy4 implants is the default package
We only use implants that are ideal for full-archImplants chosen by corporate contracts
Personal care before, during, and after surgeryHigh patient volume with unpersonalized care
Clear prosthetic warranty includedWarranty coverage varies widely
Oral sedation in-house; hospital-grade IV sedation available when neededDeep IV sedation or general anesthesia often unavailable or outsourced

We use only board-certified dental anesthesiologists for GA cases, dentists with an additional residency in dental-office anesthesia management. We do not use CRNAs. Fewer than 400 board-certified dental anesthesiologists practice in the US, which is why GA scheduling is limited.

What Others Advertise vs. What You’ll Actually Pay

Corporate implant chains advertise low prices to get you in the door, then add fees for extractions, bone grafts, sedation, and the final teeth. We price it all together from the start.

Protecting Your Implant Long-Term: Peri-Implantitis

Dental implants do not get cavities -- but the tissue surrounding them can develop peri-implantitis, a bacterial infection that destroys the bone supporting the implant. Left untreated, peri-implantitis is the leading cause of late implant failure.

Our hygiene team monitors implant sites at every recall visit. If early peri-implantitis signs appear, we intervene before bone loss becomes significant. Learn about our periodontal treatment approach.

Independent & Doctor-Owned

Smile Science is owned entirely by Dr. Dawson and Dr. Turke -- two practicing dentists with no outside investors, no DSO involvement, and no private equity. The doctors making your treatment decisions are the same people whose names are on the practice.

Surgery is performed by Dr. Dawson or Dr. Barrett depending on your case -- not a rotating staff surgeon from a chain.

Got Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

At Smile Science Dental Spa, you can rest assured that you’re getting the absolute best price for your dental implant treatment without sacrificing quality. This is due to our state-of-the-art technology and in-house lab, which allow us to complete your entire procedure and teeth fabrication under one roof. Not only does this lead to fewer visits, quicker turnaround times, and a more precise final result, but also lets us pass our savings onto you!
In most cases, absolutely not! While some people may have been told by another dentist that they are too old or don’t have enough bone to get dental implants, this is likely not the case. There have been incredible strides made over the past decade with dental implant technology and techniques. If you have been told that you are not a candidate by another dentist, we highly recommend that you get a second opinion at Smile Science Dental Spa.
Absolutely not! There are many reasons why younger people might need dental implants. From an injury, to poor dental hygiene, even prior drug use. We’ve seen it all and will make you feel welcome, comfortable, and at ease from the moment you step through our doors.
Most people are candidates for dental implants at Smile Science Dental Spa. The best way to find out if you’re a candidate is to schedule a Free Consultation. At your consultation, Dr. Dawson will answer your questions, speak one-on-one with you about your concerns, take x-rays, and review your medical history before making a determination as to your candidacy.
Dental implants are designed to last several decades with proper care. The titanium fixture that fuses to your bone is built to last in most patients. The prosthetic restoration (zirconia arch or crown) typically lasts 15+ years. Our 10-Year Limited Implant Guarantee covers integration failure during the critical first decade -- if the implant fails to fuse, we replace it.
Snap-in implant dentures are removable. The implants anchor the denture securely when it's in, but you take it out for cleaning at night. All-on-4 (fixed full-arch implants) is a permanently attached bridge -- it does not come out. Fixed full-arch restorations are more expensive but provide the closest thing to natural teeth. They require no removal and no adhesives. Snap-in dentures are a more cost-effective option for patients who are comfortable with removability and want a major improvement over a traditional denture.
Most healthy adults are candidates for dental implants. Absolute contraindications are rare but include active cancer treatment involving radiation to the jaw, severe uncontrolled diabetes, and certain bisphosphonate medications (particularly IV bisphosphonates for cancer treatment). Relative contraindications -- factors that require evaluation but do not automatically rule you out -- include controlled diabetes, smoking, bone loss, uncontrolled gum disease, and some cardiovascular conditions. Dr. Dawson reviews your full medical and medication history at consultation to determine candidacy and risk.
Dental implant surgery is among the most predictable elective procedures in dentistry, but risks exist. The most common are implant failure (the implant does not integrate with bone), infection, and temporary post-surgical discomfort and swelling. Less common risks include nerve sensitivity changes, sinus involvement (for upper implants near the sinus floor), and adjacent tooth injury. At Smile Science, IV sedation is administered by a board-certified dental anesthesiologist, which eliminates the sedation-related risks associated with self-administered oral sedation or CRNA-supervised care. Our 10-Year Limited Implant Guarantee covers integration failure if it occurs during the first decade.
Yes, but it's straightforward. Single implants and implant-supported crowns are maintained like natural teeth -- brush, floss, and get professional cleanings at least once a year. Full-arch restorations require a WaterPik or specialized floss to clean under the bridge, along with annual professional maintenance cleanings using instruments safe for implant surfaces. We provide detailed aftercare instructions at your surgery appointment and are available for follow-up questions. Our team performs annual arch maintenance in-office for full-arch patients.
We work with Cherry Financing, which offers flexible monthly payment plans for qualified patients. Cherry is a dental-specific financing platform that provides plans ranging from short-term 0% interest promotions to longer-term plans with low monthly payments. Approval decisions are typically made in seconds. You can apply at your consultation or in advance online. For patients without insurance, we also offer an in-house membership plan that provides discounts on treatment when paid over time.
Advertised prices vary significantly in what they include. Some quotes cover only implant fixtures and arch fabrication. Extractions, alveoloplasty, CBCT imaging, sedation, and provisional restorations may be billed separately, and not all “zirconia” arches use the same fabrication standard. Our pricing includes your 3D CBCT planning scan, surgical placement, standard extractions, and your final restoration. Before comparing prices, ask any provider for a written itemized list of what is and is not included.
Warranty terms vary widely between practices. Many are not provided in writing until after treatment begins. Before committing, ask to see the written warranty document: what failures are covered, what maintenance is required to keep it valid, and what happens if the practice closes or you relocate. Our 10-year fixture warranty is manufacturer-backed and our 5-year prosthetic warranty covers fit, fracture, and fabrication defects. Both are provided in writing before your first appointment.
For many patients the underlying cause is not hygiene. It is oral chemistry. Acid from reflux, diet, mouth breathing, dry mouth, or systemic conditions like diabetes continuously demineralizes enamel and attacks restorations. Individual repairs cannot solve a whole-system problem. Full-arch implants replace the variable entirely, and because complex systemic cases require more thorough pre-surgical assessment, Dr. Dawson evaluates every case with this in mind before recommending a treatment path.
No. Smile Science is 100% owned by Dr. Dawson and Dr. Turke, two practicing dentists. There are no outside investors, no private equity involvement, and no management company directing clinical decisions. Both owners practice here full time. In a DSO or corporate chain, treatment recommendations can be influenced by investor returns, production quotas, or rotating providers who do not know your history. At Smile Science, the people making your treatment decisions are the same people whose names are on the practice. They are the doctors you will see at your appointment.
