Restore Function. Rebuild Confidence.

Restorative dentistry addresses structural problems that compromise your ability to bite, chew, speak, and smile comfortably. At SmileScience Dental Spa in Glendale, AZ, Dr. John Turke leads restorative treatment using digital impressions, CAD/CAM same-day milling, and precise CBCT-guided planning. The goal is always to restore what you have -- as conservatively as possible -- before considering replacement.

Restorative Treatments at SmileScience

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Composite resin restorations that match your tooth color and bond directly to enamel. No metal. Ideal for small to medium cavities, including replacing older amalgam fillings.

Completed in one visit. Most covered by insurance.

Same-Day Ceramic Crowns

Our in-house PlanMeca digital lab lets us design, mill, and seat a custom ceramic crown in a single appointment. No temporary crown, no second visit, no two-week wait for an outside lab.

All-ceramic material for natural-looking strength.

Dental Bridges

A fixed bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth to the adjacent natural teeth on either side. Restores bite function and prevents the remaining teeth from drifting.

Fixed solution that looks and functions naturally.

Inlays and Onlays

Partial restorations that repair more damage than a filling can address but less than requires a full crown. Fabricated from ceramic and bonded into the tooth for a precise, conservative fit.

The conservative middle ground between filling and crown.

Full-Mouth Rehabilitation

Comprehensive reconstruction combining multiple restorative and cosmetic procedures to address severe wear, decay, structural loss, or bite collapse. Planned with CBCT and digital design before treatment begins.

Dental Implants

The gold standard for replacing missing teeth. Implants integrate with the jawbone and support crowns, bridges, or full-arch prostheses. Permanent, bone-preserving, and the closest thing to a natural tooth.

Digital Planning for Precise Restorations

Every significant restorative case at SmileScience begins with a complete digital assessment. Intraoral scans replace traditional impressions. CBCT imaging provides a 3D view of bone structure, root positions, and jaw anatomy for cases requiring that level of precision.

For crowns, inlays, and onlays, our in-office PlanMeca digital lab fabricates same-day restorations from solid ceramic blocks. Dr. Turke reviews the digital design at chairside before the restoration is milled and seated -- no laboratory delay, no temporary, no second appointment.

For full-mouth rehabilitation cases, the digital records inform a comprehensive treatment plan that is reviewed with you before a single tooth is prepared.

Technology Used in Restorative Care

  • PlanMeca 60S Digital Lab -- same-day ceramic crown fabrication
  • Trios 5 Intraoral Scanner -- digital impressions for all restorations
  • CBCT 3D Imaging -- bone and root anatomy for complex cases
  • Soft Tissue Laser -- gum management during crown preps

Restorative Dentistry FAQs

All-ceramic crowns placed with proper preparation and bite adjustment typically last 10 to 15 years or longer with routine maintenance. Longevity depends on oral hygiene, bite forces, and whether the patient grinds their teeth. If you grind at night, a custom night guard significantly extends crown life.

A filling replaces material lost inside the tooth. An inlay fills within the cusps. An onlay covers one or more cusps in addition to filling the inside. A crown covers the entire visible tooth surface. The choice depends on how much of the original tooth structure remains. At SmileScience, Dr. Turke selects the most conservative option that provides adequate strength for the tooth's function and position.

Many teeth that appear unsalvageable can be restored with the right approach -- root canal therapy, a post and core buildup, and a crown. CBCT imaging helps us assess the root structure, bone support, and fracture depth accurately. We will always tell you candidly when a tooth is more predictably replaced with an implant than restored, and when saving it is the better long-term choice.

Approximately 2 to 3 hours for the full appointment. This includes tooth preparation, digital scanning, CAD/CAM design review, milling (about 15 to 20 minutes), fit adjustment, shade matching, and final seating. Most of that time is passive -- you are in the chair but the milling is automated. You leave with a permanent ceramic crown the same day.

Most dental insurance plans cover a portion of restorative procedures such as fillings, crowns, and bridges, typically at 50% to 80% after your deductible. Annual maximums vary by plan. Our team verifies your specific benefits before treatment and provides a written cost estimate so there are no surprises. We also offer flexible financing through CareCredit, Cherry, and Sunbit for out-of-pocket balances.

Full-mouth rehabilitation refers to a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses multiple failing or missing teeth, severe wear, bite problems, or structural collapse across the entire mouth. It typically combines implants, crowns, veneers, and sometimes orthodontic changes into a sequenced treatment plan. SmileScience uses CBCT imaging, digital smile design, and a phased approach so you understand each step before any work begins.
