Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots, typically made of titanium, that are surgically placed into the jawbone. A replacement tooth, bridge, or overdenture is then fixed onto the implant.

Dental implants are a big investment in yourself. We offer multiple forms of financing to make it easier to get the treatment you need.

Implant overdentures are a type of denture that is supported by and attached to implants in the jawbone, providing more stability than traditional dentures.

Dental implants are surgically inserted into the jawbone where they fuse with the bone over time, a process called osseointegration. This provides a stable base for replacement teeth, offering a secure, natural-looking option for tooth replacement.

Candidates for dental implants should have good general health, healthy gums, and enough bone in the jaw to hold the implant. Each case is unique, so it’s important to consult with your dentist or oral surgeon to evaluate if dental implants are the best solution for you.

With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. The crown or denture attached to the implant may need replacement after 10-15 years, depending on wear and tear. Implant overdentures, with proper maintenance, can also last a long time, though the exact lifespan can vary.

Like natural teeth, dental implants and overdentures should be brushed at least twice a day and flossed daily. Regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings are also crucial. Your dentist can provide specific care instructions based on your situation.

While the surgery may cause some discomfort, most patients report less pain than they anticipated. Pain can typically be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. Once healed, implants and overdentures should not cause any discomfort.

The cost of dental implants and implant overdentures can vary significantly depending on several factors, including the number of implants, your geographical location, and your insurance coverage. It’s best to consult with your dentist for a personalized estimate.

Some dental insurance plans may cover a portion of the cost of dental implants and implant overdentures, but this varies greatly by provider and plan. It’s recommended to check with your insurance company for details about your specific coverage.

Once healed, dental implants and implant overdentures function much like natural teeth, allowing you to eat a wide variety of foods. However, it’s always best to take care when eating hard or chewy foods to avoid damaging your implants or overdentures.
